Wild & Free

In the unique natural surroundings of Finland, your daily grind will quickly be forgotten. Our large, ruggedly beautiful wilderness provides the ideal terrain for outdoor activities, be it snowmobiling, skiing, dog sledding, sailing, kayaking or hiking. Eat berries from the forest, drink from a mountain brook, and guide your raft down the white waters of the Great North.

Top activities to get your adrenaline pumping

Dip in a hole in the ice

Yes, it's freezing outside and yes, the water is cold! Forget all excuses and just do it – the exhilarating feeling you get after an icy dip is worth the leap of faith.

Ride with reindeer and huskies

Cruise through silent, snow-covered wilds in a muscle-powered sled. A safari across the forests and fells with your own team of dogs or reindeer is as close to a true Northern experience as you can get. Hop on and let the dogs do what they do best – run at top speed!

Ski and snowboard

Finland offers great terrain for downhill enthusiasts. There are numerous resorts, and all are suitable for beginners while most offer challenging areas for experienced skiers, too. Terrain parks are the norm in practically every resort and if you ask the right people, they'll show you amazing backcountry lines. Instruction and equipment are available wherever you decide to go.

Board an ice breaker

The excursion begins with a snowmobile ride to the icebreaker Sampo, followed by an introduction to the vital role of these ships in keeping the sea lanes open for foreign trade. You can also try swimming in a waterproof thermal suit among the broken ice blocks. Excitement guaranteed.

Fly-fish for salmon

Finland's salmon rivers offer fly-fishing enthusiasts splendid opportunities to wear down genuine whoppers in breath-taking surroundings.

Rent a water jet or a canoe

Do a day trip or make a longer trek out of it – kayaking and canoeing is available in all forms, shapes and sizes. Shoot down rapids or have a relaxed slide along Finland's countless rivers. Cross vast landscapes on water or shred the lake on a jet ski for an afternoon – just enjoy!

Get wet white water rafting

You'll laugh, you'll scream, and you'll get wet – not to forget the inevitable adrenaline rush and a huge smile. The Eastern and Northern parts of Finland are home to the biggest rapids in the country, and rafting services are available in all of them. Bring a dry change of clothes!

Mountain bike in the Wild

Finland is ideal for cycling tours. The roads are mostly flat with some gently rolling hills. Away from the main routes, there's little traffic. The scenery varies from lakes and forests to peaceful farmland and small villages. Your heart will be left on these roads.
